About JAZA

What is JAZA doing?

What is the Japanese Association of Zoos and Aquariums (a public interest incorporated association) doing?
JAZA is a gathering of 151 Japanese zoos and aquariums for the purpose of conserving nature and precious animals from an international perspective.
We are cooperating and collaborating to achieve our mission in an approach that wouldn’t be possible by a single zoo/aquarium.
You might have visited a zoo or an aquarium before. What have you seen there? Did you enjoy it?
Zoos and aquariums are institutions intended to both entertain and to provide educational knowledge about nature and animals.
Here we would like to introduce our works by using the example of our four objectives.
